Artist's Description
Every paint stroke is a celebrating tribute of love to honor the man everyone called Hickie, my Grandpa as I called him. His full name was Jesse Edward Hicks and I'm proudly named after. I only wish every grandchild could experience the complete love and wisdom that was bestowed upon me by this Grandfather. Hickie's character touched many lives for the better! He was also a recipient of the prestigious Carnegie Metal for Bravery . I was fortunate to have a photograph capturing one of his numerous outdoorsman loves in life, fishing. For you Grandpa!!!!! ( A book has been written called Hickie An American Hero, author: Bill A. Hicks 1-800-288-4677 (www.iuniverse.com)
About Edward Pebworth
This biography of Edward Pebworth is an introduction as to why and who I am as an artist. I was born to my mother Kathleen and my father Lester Pebworth in the year 1961. I am an heir to my mother’s extraordinary natural artistic talent. Remarkable teachers from art, drafting and shop class have taught me formal methods, rules, disciplines and techniques. My early to present-day curiosity for how things are designed, made and function have led me to a 20-year career in the field of skilled trades and maintenance. Versatility is an understatement when it comes to my freedom of artistic expression. Creating, fabricating and visualizing an idea and then bringing it to fruition gives me sense of purpose, worth and accomplishment....

This is a wonderful tribute to our grandpa, Ed! I imagine the creek in the background as being the one that runs through Creitz Park in Cambridge City. To all of us grandkids, Hickie was a teacher, an encourager, a coach, an advocate, a supporter, a foundation, and a father. We were so fortunate that he took us under his wing and sheltered us from some very real storms we were experiencing as young people. He was a gift that we enjoyed for about 30 years of our lives. Oh how I miss him sometimes. I can hear him loudly clearing his throat in that old blue Nova, then cussin' to no one in particular ... "Damn phlegm!" Then spit out the window!
